King (Bendix/King) KT 76A ATC Transponder

This is a classic panel-mounted Mode A/C air traffic control (ATC) transponder for general aviation aircraft. It replies to ground radar interrogations with the pilot-selected 4096 identity code (Mode A) and, when connected to an altitude encoder, pressure altitude in 100-ft increments (Mode C). It is TSO-C74b Class I approved, operates on 13.75 VDC, weighs about 3.1 lbs, and is certified for use up to 35,000 feet. Features include a self-test function and IDENT button. It was one of the most widely installed transponders of its era and remains common in older GA aircraft (a slide-in replacement for the earlier KT 78A in many cases).
